A Startup That Says It With A Pin

3 Mins read

`Say It With A Pin’ is transforming the world of gifting and accessories with its unique blend of creativity and sustainability. Founded in 2018 by Kanika Seth and born out of the design firm 2626 Creative Studio, this innovative brand has quickly garnered a reputation for its hand-painted wooden pins and a wide range of artistic, thoughtfully crafted products. Kanika, with her unwavering passion for design and a vision to create expressive, fun, and functional items, has led Say It With A Pin to become a beloved name among art enthusiasts and corporates alike. Today, the brand is celebrated for its playful and imaginative offerings that bring a touch of joy and personalization to everyday life.

1. Can you give us a brief overview of Say It With A Pin and what inspired you to start this venture?

Say It With A Pin was born out of our design firm, 2626 Creative Studio, in 2018. We started experimenting with a process for making hand-painted wooden pins, and these little creations were an instant hit with everyone who saw them. The positive response and the sheer joy these pins brought to people made us realize that we had something special. This sparked the idea to turn these products into a full-fledged brand. Say It With A Pin reimagines gifts, accessories, and collectibles through fresh design, blending fun and functionality in everything we create. We have expanded from an online retail presence to offline stores, and we offer bespoke design services for unique corporate gifts and branded merchandise.

2. What was the initial vision?

The initial vision for Say It With A Pin was to create small, artistic, hand-crafted pins that served as unique, personal accessories. As the brand grew, so did our vision. Today, Say It With A Pin is about much more than just pins. We aim to be the go-to brand for anyone looking for imaginative, artful, and thoughtful gifts and accessories. Our product categories have expanded to include a wide range of items like keychains, bookmarks, tote bags, puzzles, games and more. Despite this growth, the DNA of our products remains the same: they are all mediums of self-expression, crafted with love and artistic flair. We’ve also expanded our team to over 35 creative individuals, working out of our studio in Sultanpur, Delhi, and our new office in Mumbai.

3. Your Brand’s USP?

What sets Say It With A Pin apart is our commitment to creativity and our unique approach to design. Our products are not just functional items; they are pieces of art that allow people to express themselves. We pride ourselves on our playful, fun, and expressive brand culture, which is evident in every product we create. Our USPs include:

  • Handcrafted and Hand-painted: Each product is crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Sustainability: We prioritize sustainable materials and processes.
  • Made in India: All our products are proudly made in India.
  • Community-Designed Products: Through our Pin Pals initiative, we collaborate with artists and illustrators across India, sharing sales as royalties with them.
  • Comprehensive Corporate Gifting Solutions: We offer end-to-end services from design to dropshipping, ensuring a hassle-free experience for our clients. We’re tired of boring corporate gifts ourselves, and decided to do something about it.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs who are looking to start their own creative businesses?

For young entrepreneurs looking to start their own creative businesses, my advice would be to stay true to your vision and passion. It’s important to create something that you genuinely believe in and that brings joy to you and your customers. Don’t be afraid to experiment and take risks; creativity often thrives on exploration and trying new things.

Building a strong team is crucial. Surround yourself with people who share your vision and can complement your skills. Invest in their growth and create a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Lastly, focus on sustainability from the beginning. Today’s consumers are increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of their purchases, and integrating sustainable practices into your business model can set you apart and build a loyal customer base.
